Electronic Arts Playtesting gives you a voice in the development process, so that we can create the best experiences for all our players.

Why your feedback matters The Playtesting program gives you an opportunity to catch a glimpse of games that are in development before anyone else! Your input really does matter to us, and the Playtest programme is a great way to give your feedback to the devs on what you like, and don’t like! 

A Typical Session So what does a typical Playtest at Electronic Arts Playtesting look like? We’re glad you asked! While we have many different types of Playtests, the goal is always the same: We want to give you the chance to check out and give your feedback on our games and products - both released and unreleased - so we can better understand how real players experience them. Here are some of the most common Playtests:

Group Playtest Check out a game or product in a group setting with other Playtesters. For games, this can be both single-player and multiplayer games. Feedback is typically collected in the form of surveys at various checkpoints throughout the Playtest. Group Playtests may take place over 60 minutes or up to 5 full days. You can participate online or in person at one of our Player Experience Labs.

1-on-1 Playtest Get an inside look at a game/product and talk through your experience directly with an EA Researcher. They will ask you questions about your experiences, preferences, and other areas of interest. These conversations typically last between 30 and 120 minutes, and may happen online or in person at one of our Player Experience Labs.

Extended Playtest Extended Playtests collect your feedback over multiple days to help us learn how you interact with our games/products over an extended period of time. These take place over multiple weeks, and typically take place online.

Playtester Survey In these surveys, we ask Playtesters to give their feedback on specific topics related to what we’re working on. Playtester Surveys can vary in length and complexity, and typically take place online.

Focus Group A focus group is a group discussion with around 6-10 Playtesters, where a Researcher or Moderator will ask each member of the group to contribute and share their thoughts and experiences. Focus groups typically last about 60-90 minutes and can take place either online or in person at one of our Player Experience Labs.

Community Playtest A Community Playtest is a hands-on session you can participate in online from home that is focused around how a game performs. Games in these sessions will probably not yet contain all of the final launch features, content, and final quality iterations, so you should expect to encounter bugs and crashes as you play. Your feedback may be gathered through a survey after the Playtest.
