Split Fiction Accessibility Resources - An Official EA Site

Split Fiction Accessibility Resources - An Official EA Site Accessibility Games News Forums Games News Forums Split Fiction Accessibility Resources Split Fiction is the new 2-player co-op experience from the “Game of the Year” creators of “It Takes Two”, Hazelight Studios. In this game, you and a friend will help the writers Mio and Zoe overcome the trials and tribulations of their own stories in a myriad of worlds and environments with a lot of different gameplay variations. Remember that thanks to the Friend Pass, only one of the players need to own the game to play the whole experience together, whether locally or online!

Before you play this game, we want to make sure your accessibility onboarding goes smoothly. Controls can be previewed in the settings menu, and a tutorial is provided for basic gameplay mechanics. Below, we highlight noteworthy accessibility features that may be helpful for you. Players are encouraged to browse through the settings and review accessible design considerations outlined in this guide.

Noteworthy Features Visual Audio Controls Gameplay

Visual

Visual Visual Comfort Disable camera shakes will remove involuntary camera movements caused by explosions or other environment effects that could cause motion sickness to some users.  No motion blur or chromatic aberration effects are not present in the gameplay by design. Some specific cutscenes have them for visual flair, but it is not a global game-wide effect. A Persistent Dot can be turned On in the center of the screen for one or both players, to serve as a focus point to prevent motion sickness.

Camera Settings Camera sensitivity can be adjusted for each player separately, allowing for more customization on camera speed during normal gameplay. Aim camera sensitivity can be equally adjusted for each player separately, allowing for further specific camera speed customization when using an aiming mechanic. The camera assistance setting allows for the camera to rotate automatically for each player individually.

Audio

Audio Volume Settings Volume sliders can be found in the audio settings menu for all sound, music or dialogue separately. Night Mode helps boost the quality of quiet sounds when playing on low volume. Subtitle and Captions Subtitles are turned On by default for both players, appearing on each of the sides of the screen. Closed Captions can be turned On for important sound effects, music tone, and mood. Subtitle background can be turned On to enhance subtitles contrast and improve readability.

Controls

Controls Input Challenges Repeated button press prompts can be changed into holding a button instead to solve it, or turned Off completely and be automatically solved. Stick spin prompts can be changed into holding a direction instead of having to rotate the stick to solve it. Stick wiggle prompts can be changed into holding a direction instead to solve it, or disabled completely to and be automatically solved. Control Remapping Remappable controls are available for every in-game action, and can be remapped per player. Sticks can be swapped per player. Meaning, the right stick can be used to move your character and the left stick can be used to move the camera.  Stick axis can be inverted for camera controls and for flight controls if needed. Controller vibration Controller vibration can be turned Off from the settings menu. Trigger vibration does not convey critical information for gameplay by design, and can be turned Off in the settings menu.

Gameplay

Gameplay Difficulty and progression An option to skip to the next checkpoint can be executed from the accessibility menu, which will allow players to skip an entire section they may be struggling with. The game will display a confirmation message to ensure this is not triggered accidentally. Pausable at any time, including gameplay and cutscenes. The “Reduced enemy damage” lowers the difficulty of combat encounters by preventing players from dying from certain enemy attacks. Additional Information
